Above IT continues to publish Microsoft 365 tutorial videos. In the eighth part of the tutorial video series, Above IT ‘consigliere’ Lauri Haveri reviews Microsoft’s Defender for Office solution. How do you intelligently protect yourself against phishing? One way is to train users with simulated phishing attacks. This is also explained in more detail in Lauri’s video. We will continue to publish similar tutorial videos monthly in the future – for the benefit of your IT management!
Defender for Office
In today’s cloud-based IT environments, identities are the primary attack surface. Threats target all end-users in the form of phishing – regardless of profile, and when an end-user is compromised, it is often just the first step in the attack path. The attacker then typically attempts to move laterally and exploit various vulnerabilities in our IT environments.
For this reason, it is important to prevent successful phishing attempts and other advanced threats right where they reach end-users – in communication. However, it is important to note that Defender for Office features are not inherently included in all Microsoft 365 licenses. Therefore, when selecting licenses, it is crucial to consider how data security can be managed as holistically as possible.
Microsoft’s Defender for Office solutions provide built-in security for the Microsoft 365 environment, protecting communications from advanced threats. You get it as part of your services already at the Business Premium license level. But to understand more precisely what kind of technology it is and why it should always be configured as part of communication security, watch Lauri’s video!
