Summer is here! – and so are the events where Above IT has proudly supported sports! During the spring and early summer, we have experienced community spirit, the joy of sports, and of course, a touch of excitement. The beginning of June has been full of action. As our content production gradually shifts into summer vacation mode, I decided to write a bit about our early summer news as the CEO’s summer greetings!
Järvenpää's Strongest 2025 – strong women and men!
The summer season kicked off spectacularly with our participation as a sponsor in the Järvenpää’s Strongest event. It was one of the qualifying competitions on the way to the
Although we may not have taken home the title of Järvenpää’s Strongest, our own ‘consigliere’ Pasi Jalonen was heavily involved in organizing the event, and we were mainly there to admire how smoothly everything ran. We were quite visible in Järvenpää that day and on the competitors’ shirts, which warmed the entrepreneur’s heart. If you missed the event and are interested in strongman competitions, Järvenpää’s Strongest competitions are now available on MTV Katsomo!
By the way, it’s nice to know that even IT experts can lift more than just servers! Pasi himself was recently competing in strongman competitions in Kuopio.
Paavo Nurmi Games – excitement and competition atmosphere in the VIP box
Next, we turned our attention to Turku, where we participated as a supporting sponsor through the partner club in the Paavo Nurmi Games athletics event. The event offered us the opportunity to bring our clients to the VIP box and enjoy the sports performances together – as well as network, get inspired, and enjoy world-class performances. It was a pleasure to be part of this international sports celebration!
I must say, I hadn’t been part of such an event in years, where nearly 13,000 people came to witness top athletes’ performances. The event was precisely scheduled, and it was interesting to see how each event started exactly as announced. The strong television coverage of the games might have had something to do with it. Paavo Nurmi Games aims to become part of the Diamond League events in the future, so it’s nice to be on this path supporting Finnish athletics and sports!
Above IT Oy – how are we doing?
The beginning of the year has been eventful, and I want to express my gratitude to all our clients and partners for our journey together so far, in addition to summer greetings. Our Microsoft partnership has been strengthened this year in the
What does the future hold for us? Time will tell. Currently, our focus is on further developing our services and aligning them with ISO27001 information security certification, and later, we may also aim for international markets! We will certainly buzz more about this in the future as we gain momentum with these matters.
By the way, it’s worth marking your calendar for the upcoming fall Above IT Afterwork event, which will again be held in Helsinki, but already on September 18, 2025 – So mark your calendar because it’s once again the fall’s “must attend” event for IT decision-makers! The event agenda will be refined during the summer, and registration will open soon. More on this later!
But now it’s time for everyone to take a moment to enjoy the summer and Finland’s short summer season and vacation time, and I thought I’d end my blog this time with a tip list for you IT people, from which you can draw inspiration on how to make the most of your summer vacation! Have a great summer everyone!
Tips for IT people on spending summer vacation!
Summer is also a time for recovery and creativity. Here are a few tips from Above IT on how IT professionals can make the most of their vacation:
- Disconnect from the screen: Give your eyes and brain a rest. Leave the screens for a moment and head to nature – even just to the nearby forest. Did you know that in Japan, doctors may prescribe walking in the forest as a treatment!?
- Delegate before vacation: Use the time before your vacation to delegate routine tasks and instruct your team members. This way, you can vacation with peace of mind, knowing that the same unfinished tasks will surely still be waiting on your desk when you return!
- Get inspired by something new: Listen to podcasts, read books, or attend events that are not directly related to your work. New perspectives fuel creativity. I’m sure your colleagues who are working through the summer heat will appreciate it when you return rested, full of energy, and bursting with new ideas to share!
- Keep your vacation a vacation: Don’t check your email or Teams – the world won’t end if you’re offline for a moment. Your IT department’s resources, the consigliere guys, don’t take vacations – at least not all at the same time! There’s always someone working to take care of things for you!
“We wish all our clients, partners, and colleagues a relaxing and sunny summer! At Above IT, we continue passionately connecting technology and people – even during the summer.”
Summer greetings,

consigliere, CEO, co-founder
Above IT Oy
