Strong expertise is needed by our clients, and this is represented by Above IT’s latest acquisition, ‘consigliere’ Pasi Jalonen. So literally that Pasi competes in strongman competitions in his free time. In this personal story, we introduce Pasi Jalonen and tell you where we found Pasi. So who is Pasi – and where does Pasi come from?
From traditional IT to modern cloud
“This year marks exactly 30 years spent in the IT industry on both sides of the table,” Pasi says. Pasi initially started his career as an IT specialist in the former Uusimaa Provincial Government. Since then, Pasi’s path has taken him through various IT outsourcing partners, including overseas assignments. At times, he has also worked on the other side of the table in large international corporations.
Pasi has thus accumulated a wealth of experience from traditional IT infrastructure to today’s Microsoft 365 and Azure public cloud services.
“It’s nice to draw from experience, and the journey includes, for example, numerous migrations and the maintenance and management of large and complex IT environments,” Pasi continues.
How large? “The largest might be an Active Directory environment with about 160,000 end users,” Pasi reveals.
From dance floor razor to strongman
Because everything always has to be big for Pasi, he has taken things seriously in his free time as well.
“While practicing competitive dancing, I got carried away with Latin show, and managed to snag a world championship in 2016,” Pasi says.
After that, he has sought excitement from strongman competitions, where Pasi competes in the under 85kg category under the Finnish Power Sports Federation. Pasi has participated in a total of seven competitions so far and has already won medals in four of them – including one victory.
“You always need to have some goal-oriented activity to maintain interest and motivation!” Pasi emphasizes. And that’s why Pasi originally wanted to be involved in developing Above IT Oy’s operations!
More strength to Above IT's consigliere team
“I already knew Above IT’s founders Juhan and Mika from before,” Pasi says.
Pasi joined the Above IT team to bring strong expertise in mid-November and has now felt very much at home. So much so that this professional, who previously preferred “remote work”, is now regularly seen at our Above IT office!
“I marched in to talk to the guys in the fall, we chatted for an hour and found that our views aligned. Actually, the deal was sealed right then and there.” Pasi reveals.
With his experience, Pasi brings a tremendous addition to Above IT’s team of experts and thus strengthens the company’s ‘consigliere’ team.
