Microsoft 365 Tutorial Video – Part 3 – Hardening Microsoft 365 Environments

During spring 2025, Above IT will release a series of tutorial videos on Microsoft 365 technologies. In the third part of the tutorial series, Above IT ‘consigliere’ Lauri Haveri goes through the basic hardening of the Microsoft 365 environment, which the cybersecurity agency also recommends reviewing! We will continue to release similar tutorial videos monthly in the future – for the benefit of your IT management as well!

Basic Hardening of Microsoft 365 Environment

Microsoft 365 environments are quite open to use when freshly deployed. If you do not review its settings and harden the environment to the desired model, your users will have quite free rein to operate within the environment and share information from your environment, even in quite disadvantageous ways. And the basic users do not think much about it, as it is the responsibility of IT management.

When you properly harden your cloud EntraID directory service, users can operate in ways sufficient for them, and the security of the environment is not compromised. When you tighten SharePoint’s sharing settings, the information shared from the cloud does not go on an open journey, but remains controlled and accessible only to those involved. All this gently guides usage in the right direction, ensuring data protection.

In this month’s tutorial video, you will see some “must-do” hardenings that the cybersecurity agency also recommends doing.

If your IT management is on the path to hardening the Microsoft 365 environment, bring our ‘consigliere’ along for help! The video provides the basic tools for this journey, but there is much to do when starting to enhance and harden the use of Microsoft 365 environments!
