Two Years Above IT, a Well-Earned Summer!

Summer holidays and Midsummer are approaching, and now is a good time to pause and reflect on where Above IT stands. We founded our company on Valentine’s Day 2024, and we are now well into our third year of operation. This period has been filled with momentum and challenging situations, even more than I initially anticipated. Yet I would not change a single day. In this blog, I have compiled a look in the rearview mirror from the perspective of our business and sustainability, along with an overview of where Above IT Oy stands in terms of the Microsoft partner program and Microsoft Solution Partner categories.

Strong Growth, an Instructive Year

The second year of operations was above all a year of growth. Our revenue increased from just over €200,000 in the first, partial fiscal year to approximately €750,000. Last year, we were also joined by our sister company Below IT Oy, which enables the provision of end-user services within our group. Our growth has continued strongly this year as well: the revenue for the first half of the year is already approaching the level of the entire previous year.

At the same time, it is fair to acknowledge that last year was also challenging. Growth required investments in expertise and operational structures. Along the way, we bore small entrepreneurial risks that came with the territory. The general state of the global economy, the resulting sluggishness in sales, and a slower-than-usual start to the autumn season were also reflected in our results. The fiscal year result remained essentially at zero due to growth investments. This is a deliberate consequence of building a foundation for the longer term rather than optimizing the result of a single year.

Such years are part of the journey of a young and growing company. What matters most is that demand is genuine, customer relationships are long-term, and the foundation is solid. At present, we look to the coming autumn with confidence.

Cloud First, Small Footprint

Sustainability has been an important part of our company’s operations and activities from the very beginning. We have just completed our second sustainability report, covering the year 2025. Sustainability is not a separate project for us but a way of making decisions, and the report brings together what sustainability means to us in practice.

We operate cloud first, which keeps our own carbon footprint small. Our goal is to conduct over 90 percent of meetings remotely, and our office energy is 100 percent carbon dioxide-free. In our own procurement, we make strong use of the circular economy, with examples from this year including all the electric desks in our new office. We aim to ensure that by 2029, at least half of our own equipment purchases will be made from the used equipment market.

During 2025, we integrated sustainability even more closely into our management team work and decision-making. We have now decided to apply to join the UN Global Compact corporate network during 2026 and commit even more strongly to advancing its ten principles as part of our daily operations. You can now read the full report on our website.

Four Partner Designations, Earned Not Purchased

I’ll acknowledge one thing that is important to me, which I am not ashamed to say even in this era of geopolitics: Microsoft partnership is strategically important to us. This year, we renewed all four of our Microsoft Solutions Partner designations that we had already earned the previous year: Modern Work, Security, Infrastructure (Azure), and Data & AI (Azure).

These are not marketing badges. Microsoft grants designations based on verified customer success, certified expertise, and concrete deployments, not on license sales volume. Each designation requires that our team’s expertise has been measured and proven in that specific area and that data collected from customer environments supports it.

For the customer, this means two things. The four designations cover the most important core areas of a modern Microsoft environment, from work productivity and security to Azure infrastructure as well as data and AI. It is independent confirmation that our expertise withstands scrutiny. Through the same partner, your IT department receives reinforced support without having to search for a different partner for each area.

Thank You for Making This Possible

Above IT’s journey over the first two years has been possible only thanks to our customers and partners. You have made this possible, and for that, warm thanks go to all of you. I warmly welcome you all to our upcoming Above IT AfterWork event in October, which will be held for the third time.

Our blog will now take a well-earned summer break. We will continue in August, when we will also expand our contributions to the community, as our free technical training sessions will return to the schedule after the summer.

This is a great way to head into summer vacation!

Wishing you a sunny and peaceful Midsummer and summer. Stay the course.
