The NIS2 Directive and the national Cybersecurity Act derived from it have brought many changes and challenges for IT professionals. While its purpose is to improve cybersecurity, its requirements can cause stress and sleeplessness. In this humorous story, we follow the “NIS2 Refugee” who tries to escape their Client, for whom regulation has caused too much pressure! <\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Too much pressure from the Cybersecurity Act!<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

It all began one sleepless night when the cybersecurity expert and CEO of an unnamed Client discussed – they had long suffered from the stress and sleeplessness caused by the NIS2 Directive. They decided that the easiest way to cope with the regulatory requirements would be to capture the consigliere appointed to them by Above IT and force him to handle all compliance tasks on their behalf. This way, they could have an easier time and avoid the pain caused by regulation. <\/p>\n

Our expert was locked in the basement, where he was kept under strict surveillance. The documentation for the Digital Security Model<\/a> had to progress, and the management report had to be completed on time!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Planning the Escape<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Above IT’s consigliere<\/a> decided that enough was enough. He had had enough of his Client’s constant compliance nightmares and decided to plan his escape towards a NIS2-free zone. Unfortunately, amidst all the pressure, his Client had forgotten to properly document the risks and responsibilities of their security systems, which was the first mistake. <\/p>\n

At dawn, the “NIS2 Refugee” was ready. He climbed the bars of his cell window, which symbolized the restrictions of regulation. Along the way, he also encountered many other obstacles: his Client’s firewalls, multi-factor authentication, and security scanners. Each obstacle reminded him why he had originally decided to escape. These were systems for which no one was responsible. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Upon realizing his appointed consigliere’s escape, the Client’s CEO understood the importance of a framework. If the security systems and their responsibilities had been comprehensively and properly designed from the outset, the escape would have failed. The escaping consigliere was right \u2013 it was time to take more responsibility. He realized that cooperation and the right attitude could make compliance work less stressful. Although the NIS2 Directive<\/a> would bring challenges, it would also protect organizations and their own clients. <\/p>\n

The “NIS2 Refugee” also decided to return and face the Client’s regulatory challenges with a new attitude. \u201cOf course they need help; security is still quite a mess!\u201d, the consigliere mused and returned to facilitate the cybersecurity workshop.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
