We still remember the time when a rack in the data center was filled with servers and storage systems, along with a pile of network devices to support them. Installing the equipment alone took a day, sometimes almost a week. Not to mention the operating systems and business-supporting systems! <\/p>

Today’s modern public cloud services, like Microsoft Azure, enable the same in hours. Public cloud services often present a multi-vendor environment for the user. Business-supporting services are often purchased externally from various application providers, or their construction is entirely the responsibility of one’s own IT department. Since there are many smiths in the workshop, a common management model is needed.
